sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of Your Excellency's Confidential Despatch, No. 2 in
2852/07 of the 27th, of lay last in which you emporte a
variety of services which the Hongkong Goverment has ro-
cently rendered to the provincial Goverment et Canton,
and request me to represent these matters to the Chinese
Government end to urge the wai su ru in return to essent
without further delay to the reasonable derado of the
llongkong Goverment with regard to the working Agreement
for the Canton Kowloon Railway.
I took advantage of an interview which I had
with the Vai Tu Pu on the 9th, instant to take a roprocen-
tation to the Linisters in the general sonse of Tour 8x-
cellancy's ramrts, but I found that they had little or no
knowledge of the various questions alluded to in your
Despatch
